Eminent economist and key architect of India’s economic policy reforms, Dr. Vijay Kelkar, was honoured with the prestigious Punyabhushan Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of economics. The award ceremony took place in Pune, where Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the accolade to Dr. Kelkar. His selection was made by a committee chaired by renowned scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar.
In addition to Dr. Kelkar, the Pune-based Punyabhushan Foundation also paid tribute to four soldiers — Shipai Anil Kumar Kacchi, K.V. Appa Rao, Shipai Prashant Vasant Kamble, and Shipai Deepak Burman — who were injured in the line of duty. The foundation also honoured the mother of war martyr Capt. Sushant Godbole, acknowledging the profound sacrifices made by these brave hearts in service to the nation.
